"The image was captured while I was on a surf trip in Coast Rica. I had pulled over to actually photograph some horses in a field across the road but they kept running away. So I returned to my vehicle only to find this momma  staring me down. She did not look happy so I shot quickly relying on impulse. It was only after review that I noticed the steer up on the hill in the background and then the calf that was nursing. I’m still dazzled by the textures, color and honesty of this frame." -JW
